The thing about tag sales...

Time spent gathering items around the house and tagging them= 1.5 hours

Time we awoke on Saturday in order to haul our stuff to SJ's house= 6:30 a.m.

Number of times I wished I had never met SJ so I wouldn't have to be awake so early= 27

Pounds I had to lift onto the back of a truck at 6:30 a.m.= don't know, but it felt like 180

Number of times I had to lift what felt like a 180-pound desk on Saturday= 6

Hours I spent sitting in the sun, chatting with three funny sisters and bargaining with tag sale shoppers= 4.5

Money I made for my 8 hours of work and 6 desk moving experiences= $21.75

Money I spent on an item one of the funny sisters was selling= $45

What participating in SJ's tag sale cost me= $23.25

Wow - what on earth did you buy for $45? It couldn't have been anything SJ was selling cause I helped her tag all her stuff and I remember we used up almost all of the 10 cent stickers! Or was it the 25 cent stickers... Now I can't remember. But I do remember the Barefoot merlot was yummy!

Hahahahaha, brilliant.

srg: No, it wasn't from SJ. Although perhaps I could have bought everything she had at 10 cents apiece and hit the $45 mark. It was from one of her sisters.

Soda and Candy: At first, I was like, "Huh, I basically made $3 an hour today for doing a lot of work." But then I had to go and buy something. I much prefer my usual way of doing things-- the way that has me getting paid to work rather than the other way around.

However I know feel bad for even selling it to you for that much.... :-(

I've been in that movie. It was not a role I enjoyed.

my mom's church made $600 on their festival the year before last. My mom and I spent at least $120 combined. That's why I don't like to help. lol

jal12771: Don't feel bad at all! That's economics, baby! I mean, I haven't been able to put it to use, yet, or anything (that would even weirder than buying it in the first place!) but I'm sure I will eventually get a lot of use out of it. I feel like I got a great bargain so don't worry about it...

Stephanie: How about if either one of us even mentions the words "tag sale," we agree that the other will smack them in the head? You don't even have to agree to all of it-- just the part where you smack me if I say anything about it being a good idea!

Sam_I_am: Ha, ha! So you know where I'm coming from!

where's the "priceless" part?

And that is why I am categorically opposed to tag sales. That, and my mom sold my closet doors right off my closet as I slept, when she had one. That is just weird

okay. so. you didn't HAVE to participate, just for the record...

you OFFERED to participate....

but that said, it was well worth me getting rid of 8 boxes of things and the time spent with Stacey the night before (and into the morning)tagging everything (for 10 cents and 25 cents). i bet you would have enjoyed it more if there had been alcohol involved. next time i know: coffee with baileys.

Kat's lil sis: I think the priceless part was me having to pay for the honor of selling my junk.

Paige: That's exactly what I feared happening if I let the PH be in charge of choosing what to sell!

sj: I know I didn't HAVE to participate, but have you ever known me to pass up an opportunity to hang out in the sun and chat with you? Perhaps next time you could have the tag sale run from like 3-8 p.m. I work much better during those hours than at crack of dawn o'clock.
