Top 5 signs that we need a vacation

1) i managed to wrangle my inbox at work down to 5,150 messages. when i came in this morning and discovered it was back up to 5,200 i may have exclaimed WTF. and i may have thrown a post-it note pad.

2) my husband is expressing his disappointment with me to random waitresses in a restaurant while out with the PH and KAT. even he realized how wrong he was, however, as he tried to get busy with me after 11 last night (unprecendented for us since year 2 when we both have early morning meetings).

3) i wasn't having it.

4) our dog looks at us with some trepidation when we tell him things like: "mommy is a little annoyed with daddy for this evening's shenanigans."

5) our last vacation was with my parents. and i love my parents, really. but there's something about vacationing with them that makes me feel less married and more 16 years old and out with my boyfriend.

Ha! We call each other Mummy & Daddy to the dogs.

Husband says to Missy "Where's Mum?" and that is her cue to go find me in the house.

Except she usually finds a toy first and forgets about Mummy.

Your hubby has guts for trying to get some after the incident in the restaurant! The PH and I were discussing it on the way home and I said, "Half the time I can't get J to tell me about his day at work, but he started telling the waitress his life story!"

For the record, I was not encouraging his behavior, but was trying to lighten the mood. For example, when he asked the waitress if she could guess what his wife got every month, I chimed in with, "Her period?" Only the PH laughed.

The answer, by the way, is flowers from J.

he did feel the need to describe himself to this complete stranger (who would not have gotten a tip from me) as an "impeccable husband."

kat, he initially was very grumpy. but then he was all sweet and loving. whatever. i shut that crap DOWN.

i should say, however, that he is awesome.

and i love him.

but impeccable???

I have to say that was my favorite part (other than my period joke, of course). Who even describes themselves as a spouse to a complete stranger, let alone in such lofty terms!

I'm still shocked he tried to get a little action after that-- I'm telling you, that dude has balls!

kat - yes, he does. that's *why* he was trying to get some action!

Maybe he was just getting mixed up with words and meant "impecunious" i.e. trying to avoid giving a tip. Smart man.

And yes, I know, but us XYs have to stick together!

I just wanted to remind KAT that Southern gave your blog the description she's always wanted today. I'm so happy to see it. It's nice when people are "supportive" of each other, eh, KAT?
SJ- Go on vacation. You deserve it.

I think that I would have left the hubby at the restaurant! It must be "hubby diarrhea of the mouth weekend." My hubby also divulged a little too much this weekend. At least you won't have to see said waitress again. My hubby was talking to my best friend. I think that I need a vacation from him! :)
