99 channels

if you're having cable problems, i feel bad for you, son. i've got 99 channels and a ... oh wait.

sorry.

i got distracted. why is that you ask?

because i have *CABLE*! that's right. we finally did it. and we went from our regular retinue of ABC, NBC, PBS, FOX and four Spanish channels to 99 channels of wonderment.

and of course we've barely watched anything besides ABC and Fox. well - i haven't. granted j gets home a good 4 hours before me most days and has probably watched a few choice Discovery and Food network shows. I came home yesterday to find him switching between NESN and Alton Brown.

there's just too much to choose from, though. and i really don't want to turn into that couple that just watches too much TV -- i'm an avid reader now and i'd like to stay that way.

we ended up getting it because i am already that person who needs to be able to work from home from time to time -- and sometimes on the weekends. and now we have a CABLE wireless router and it's superfast and i can blog from my living room couch! or my kitchen counter! or my bedroom! or - if i could walk in it - my sewing room!

so fantastic.

Well, well - welcome the 21st century sj! Cable is great, cable internet (wireless even - I'm impressed!) is even greater. But come on over to my house and let me expose you to the world of ~TiVo~. You'll become addicted in no time!

You shouldn't have told us you got cable Internet... and the ability to blog from the couch. Now we're going to be expecting more posts from you (although you've been writing a lot lately, so perhaps I should save this comment for when you start to slack off again).

Tell J he can watch the Food Network as long as he starts cooking what he sees!

wait -- srg - i forgot to add - not only did we get cable...

we got a DVR! (but we're waiting for them to come back and replace it with one that works...)

I love my DVR. It is amazing! I sort of regret having Dish instead of cable, but the prices are lower.

Wow, what does all this mean? I thought the DVR was that fast train in France? Personally I prefer books and the BBC to any other channels.

And I have been haunting these pages for a while - witness my piss-poor comment on "The only appropriate time to say “You’re going to be huge!” is to an aspiring Broadway star ".

See - it is you lot who are slack, for not noticing me when I am nosying around (not in your recycling, don't worry!).

Now go and read every post you have written since 2006 and see what else I have commented on! :)

I love my BBC America and I will love it even more when they finally get around to showing the second season of Robin Hood. The actor who plays him is absolutely lovely!

Congrats on the cable! I understand you do not want to become addicted to it, so, if you are anything like me, you MUST avoid VH1 at all costs!

They have all the stupid "falling in love with famous people" shows. Even though you know that it is probably all fake and that the people on the show are so annoying, you can't help but watch for the pending train wreck (or two or three!). So stay away and you should be fine!

Other than that, I would suggest A&E, which does have some interesting true crime shows. But given the recent crime spurt in your area, it might just make you a little paranoid...

Congrats on the cable!

It really is easy to get sucked in though, isn't it? We only turn on the TV for certain shows we want to watch. We hardly ever just turn it on to surf.

Time gets sucked away too easily for us...

Good Luck!
