How to know your blog has arrived...

The Pretend Husband never reads this blog. Every once in awhile, when I think I've been particularly witty, I'll read him my post. But I don't think he would even know how to find it.

But he thinks about it. A few months ago, he "forbid" me from posting anything about him (quite randomly and in the middle of an argument about something else entirely). I kind of let his declaration pass without comment, didn't write anything about him for a week or two and then subtly brought up how I had posted about something that involved him. Luckily, he didn't have a problem with it because, let's be honest, the PH and his shenanigans (or the PH putting up with mine) comprise at least 80 percent of what I talk about.

Last night, the PH and I were discussing some stuff related to his career after I had designed some materials for him. We went through the different designs and talked about what he liked about them and what changes he wanted made. Then, as he was walking out of the room, he looked back at me and said, "And no, you can't post them on the blog to ask people's opinions."

So, I'm curious... does your significant other read your blog? Do they ask you to limit their presence on it or ask for any restrictions such as not using their name? Do they even know what a blog is?

My wife never reads my blog. Once in a while I'll mention it and she'll giggle at a post I'll tell her about but she doesn't go there everyday.

..but when it's made into a movie I'll be pissed if she doesn't go see it.

Yeah my husband sort of reads it, I think. I usually tell him when I've done a new post.

And he has forbidden me from being too revealing of personal info, but that's only common sense I think.

Dr Zibbs: That's weird because your wife reads MY blog everyday.

Soda and Candy: I agree that it's common sense. I'm very, very aware of how much I reveal about myself but I was caught off guard when the PH didn't want to be mentioned at all. Hello?!? I spend every day with the guy-- of course most of my funny experiences involve him!

I am manless for the moment.....but if I had one....you better believe I would expose every embarassing thing he did, and not give it a second thought!!!

Oh, wait, maybe that is why I am manless???

Yes, my husband reads mine. He even bookmarked it on his laptop.

I've been part of online groups for 14 years, so I know all about not revealing too much info. He's trusts me to be discreet. Sometimes I bust on him in my blog. But, eh, that's life! LOL

zelzee: Just don't make the same mistake I did and tell the guy about your blog in the first place! Then you don't ever have to worry about him putting restrictions on it.

Mom: That's a good husband you have there. Sometimes I WANT the PH to read the blog, but he'll only do it if I pull it up for him or read it to him. Does your husband ever talk about how easy it is to maintain a blog? Because that's another favorite comment of the PH and SJ's husband, J.

j does not read it. at all.

but my mom does. and my dad sometimes. and my sisters....

really, j should get on board so he feels more like part of the family.

My hubby reads my blog, but it's usually at mt suggestion. Or when I have pictures up that he might want to share with friends at work.

And yes, J is *paranoid* about how much personally identifying info I reveal on it. Working in investigations for his IT security dept has taught him that nothing is secret out there.

Fiance has said to me, "I don't know why you need a blog at all!" and has tried to talk me out of it, but I've been blogging since 2003 and it's not going to stop now. He used to read it though. I don't know if he still does or not.

SJ: Somehow I don't think j is having any trouble fitting in with your family. In fact, you had better hope it never comes down to a vote between the two of you because I suspect you might be the one packing your bags! (Good for you for choosing someone who gets along so well with your family)

srg: I thought of J when writing this post because I remember him talking about it when you guys stopped by our house. It's a good reminder to be cautious about how much gets revealed. I think that's cool he shares your blog with his coworkers.

Sam_I_am: What?!? Is Fiance crazy?!? He must be to even suggest you stop blogging! Are you sure you want to marry this guy?!? I'm just kidding, but I have found most guys don't really understand the appeal.

My x knew about my blog but I refused to give him the name/url. IT wasnt about him it was about me. The one thing that really bugs me about blogs is when someone in your life starts to dictate what you can and cant put in your blog. ugh. this isnt about him its your creative outlet and honestly they should get over themeselves. They tell the same stories in locker rooms etc and its just not that ig of a deal. okay i am done now.
