this week in pictures

i did a lot of fun stuff this week, i admit. i took a day to escape to the beach... i ventured through litchfield county, i went for martinis with KAT to celebrate Molly's contest and associated winners (of course), and went out with SRG and friends...

so i thought i'd share...

i took this thursday at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford. It's one of my favorite spots to go when I want to get away. It's this lovely mansion with rolling green lawns and a beautiful garden and it rolls down a small, rocky beach.

this was in riverton, along the Farmington river.

it's just lovely.

but of course, i wasn't only a nature lover this week. i mean, come on now. we had to toast our bloggy friends.

i'm a week bit tired today, i admit, due to a rather late-ish night out with SRG. but we had a good ol' time...

SRG and MP...

me and KC.

but really what i want to share most. is this pic:

can anyone tell me what the heck it is?

That, my dears, is a guinea. They're from Africa, and they're good to eat, as well as being fabulously dotted.

okay. thank you, dan. but WTF is a guinea doing on the roadside in the middle of Goshen, Connecticut??!

How weird is that!

Anyway, thanks for the "toast", I shall have myself a wee martini tonight and think of you girls and the day when we actually get to have our little martini party together!

nice little fishing spot you took a photo of there!! Nice Canoe spot!!

Those martini's looked good!!

People use guinea's to control ticks and bugs. We saw some wondering the yards of houses at Lake Champlain too.
does not surprise me they are in goshen.
Boy you sure traveled the state!!!

You and KC should have stuck around a little bit longer on Sat. night. We discovered that the baseball hat guy is engaged! But Chel walked over to him and asked if i could take a picture of the 2 of them. Good times!

i'll have you know that i *did* -- per your request, tell him as i left that my friend thought he was hot. and that though I was leaving, she was still there.

he was BRIGHT red. as we walked out, kc said to me "i can't believe you did that..."

it's true that i have no qualms about that kind of thing. (although I fully admit that I could never do it for myself.)

ps. guinea fowl are LOVELY with their spottedness. and i like that they have such a great and noble utilitarian purpose such as eating ticks.

You have stumbled upon the rarest of guineas, the Metal PinCushion Guinea, which makes the shape of whatever you press behind it. If you push hard enough with your face, you can even see a nose and eyes. Also, you may end up with gizzards of some sort in your glasses. And avian flu. But before the seizures, it's more fun than that magnetic beard guy thing.

I could use some HTML tags, but I won't, since I gave them up for Ramadan.
