Boys and their toys...

On Friday, my dad and brother dropped off a riding lawn mower the Pretend Husband bought. The Pretend Husband then rushed home from work to admire it and dream about riding it around the yard (it needed a new battery so the dream couldn't become a reality just yet). I can't be certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if he sat on the tractor and made engine noises.

That night, we hit up Wal-Mart to buy a new battery and got home after 9:30 p.m. The PH immediately went to the garage to install the battery. Suddenly, he walked into the house, grabbed a can of beer out of the fridge and went back outside.

Which is how I came to have a strange man with a beer in one hand joy-riding around our yard on his tractor at 10 o'clock at night. I would be embarrassed, but I'm pretty sure the neighbors are used to that kind of thing from when my dad lived in the house (which just proves I did indeed marry my father).

OMG. I think your husband and mine are related. Last week as I was sitting on our couch I see my hubs drive past me on the riding mower w/ a huge grin on his face. In the middle of the street. In the suburbs. Just going to the neighbors. What a dork.

When we bought our house, David was SO EXCITED that his dad offered to give him the riding lawnmower. He used it about twice before he realized what I'd already told him... our yard is no where near large enough for a riding lawnmower. So, now he just annoys the neighbors by doing things like lifting the garage door and working out in his makeshift gym at odd hours. Your neighborhood has a beer drinking joy rider. Mine has a sweaty guy trying to look cool with his punching bag. This is why I don't go outside after dark. :-)

Both my dad AND my husband get all googely eyed and excited when they see any sort of motorized device that's "John Deere Green'. Really?? I just don't see it.

But... I will say that sometimes riding lawn mowers can be fun. I may or may not have driven one down my street growing up.

Bwaahhhaa! My husband is heartbroken that his riding mower is dead and must push one now. I got him a cup holder though so it's all good.

Heehee, my husband prefers small electronic gadgets but I'm pretty sure if we had a yard big enough we'd have a ride-on!

PS - Why is he the "Pretend" Husband?
