The topic came up because one of my college friends who visited this week is facing a similar situation. She loves the guy she's dating, loves spending time with him... not so in love with his name. And she was considering telling him to change it (I encouraged that approach just because I figured his reaction would make for an entertaining story...) I think her final solution is to come up with a pet name for him so she never has to use his real one (She told him, "You'll be 'Babe' soon enough.")
I don't hate the Pretend Husband's name by any means (especially because it's so similar to mine-- as I've said, we have a Pat & Patricia-type thing going on), but I rarely use it. Instead, we are "hon" (as in "honey") to each other. In fact, an easy way to tell I've annoyed the PH is when he calls me by my name. I'm not sure if we tried out different names for each other, but "hon" is what stuck. Oh, and I've started calling him "Mr. Tickles" because it's random and makes him wonder what he did to earn it. Got to keep those guys-- whatever you call them-- on their toes.

I call Fiance Pook. As is pooky bear. When I call him by name- Christopher, he will respond with "samanthapher" to be a smartass.
Whenever Mr. KK calls me by my name, it catches me off guard. He doesn't usually call me by my name so it sounds weird.
I don't call him by his name either. I make up silly things like "weird beard".
I have similar feelings for my guy...Rafael. Maybe cause I sound like SUCH a white girl when I say it...LOL! His nick name is Felo and that's even harder for me to say...LOL! I call him baby and Papa Bear =-)
Solved that issue...LOL
On here I call him P. At home it's his real name. He calls me honey but I got irritated at it for awhile b/c I was like, "Do you even know my name?" ;)
Me & Husband hardly ever call each other by name.
We literally call each other Husband or Wife quite often, other than that there is a litany of embarrassingly cute nicknames, but honey is he general standby.
Hey you! always works.
as you well know, because i've totally called you this once at work, we mostly call each other "honey" -- but our other most common nickname is "lamb". i call him "lamb" and he calls me "chop."
we're odd.
he used to call me up in the middle of the day and use an old man's voice to say "margaret?" and i would respond "george?" but we haven't done that in a few years.
